Prof. Vygantas Vareikis  //


Vygantas is currently Senior Research Fellow and Head of the History Department of Klaipėda University. His research interests include Jewish relations in the 19th and 20th centuries, anti-semitism in Lithuania, and Klaipėda regional history. He also teaches a course of Modern European History (19th - 20th centuries).


Between 1989 and 1992 he was research Fellow in Vilnius University, working on the “History of Lithuanian Riflemen’s Association in 1919 –1940”. In 1999 he completed his doctorate in humanities. He has lectured extensively, in Lithuanian History and Modern European History and Political Sciences, and in 1996 was visiting professor in Gothenburg University.


He has published numerous monographs and articles internationally, and was political columnist for the local daily from 1993 - 2005, including various translations from Russian, Polish, English, and German for Lithuanian weeklies inter alios.
