ESR presents on Trauma and Memory

Saskia Mitreuter, member of the European Union’s Marie Curie Initial Training Network, “Children born of war – past, present and future” from the University of Leipzig presented for the second turnus in a psychotraumatology seminar for 2nd year medical students led by dr. Heide Glaesmer.

Her presentation gave an insight into cognitive and neurobiological models of memory and how they can help to explain the specific nature of traumatic memories.

Together with the students, Saskia discussed advantageous ways of dealing with traumatic events and memory to prepare medical students for potential challenges and encounters with traumatized patients in their future careers as medical practitioners.
