Conference: Exploring the Borderlands - between performance arts, political theatre and academic res

The University of Birmingham, Children Born of War Innovative Training Network (CHIBOW), and the alpha group are organising a conference to explore the borderlands between performance arts, political theatre and academic research, and to investigate how and where our practices and methodologies diverge and intersect, cross-fertilise and complement. During the first day of the conference the participants will be invited to share their experiences of working in these borderlands with a view to facilitating a rich and multi-voiced exploration of the nature of collaborations between academic researchers and performance artists while investigating what happens in the spaces that we jointly occup

Radio feature on British "Occupation Children" in Austria

Within the CHIBOW network, Lukas Schretter works on children of British soldiers and Austrian women after World War II. Austrian journalist Irene Meinitzer attended a lecture of Lukas on his dissertation project and put together a German-language radio feature. You can find the one-hour radio feature in German here

CHIBOW at a conference in Boston, MA

Each fall, the convention of the Association for Slavic, East European, and Eurasian Studies (ASEEES) offers a unique platform for international as well as interdisciplinary exchange in the field. This year, its 50th annual convention took place from 6 to 9 December in Boston, Massachusetts. With more than 550 different panels and round table discussions, it brought together more scholars than ever. ESR Michal Korhel and network Lead Scientist Sabine Lee were among ASEEES’ participants. Michal organized the panel “National (Un) Mixing in the Shadow of War.
