Congratulations Ute!

We are delighted to announce that Ute Baur-Timmerbrink was awarded the Bundesverdienstkreuz am Bande for her services in support of German and Austrian children of the occupation. In his laudatio, the mayor of Berlin Reinickendorf, on behalf of the Federal President, praised Ute’s voluntary work for the children born of occupation, but also emphasized her collaborative work with academic researchers and her attempts to contribute to the awareness raising of yet another facet of post-war history which had remained a taboo for too long.

The CHIBOW-network joins Heide Glaesmer and Ingvill Mochmann, who were present at the award ceremony, in congratulating Ute on this well-deserved recognition of her exceptional achievements in support of occupation children, and we thank her for her continued commitment to our research activities.
