ESR participates in the 11th Congress of Czech Historians

ESR Michal Korhel presented his research as well as the CHIBOW ITN at the professional meeting of historians of the Czech Republic that was held at the Palacký University in Olomouc from 13 to 15 September 2017.

In a panel dealing with the history of childhood in the socialist Czechoslovakia Michal introduced the audience to the situation of Czech-German children in the first years under the control of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia. In his presentation he pointed out the continuity in the state’s relationship to children and in its policy aimed at dealing with children of German as well as Czech-German parents since the end of WWII. He also emphasized the improvement of the general position of Czech-German children in the socialism period.

Additionally in the poster section Michal presented his research on children born of mixed Czech-German relationships as a whole.
